*Thud! Yet another one of my men landed in the mud due to the slippery ground conditions.
The troops have been for more than a 100km in the jungles for the past two rainy days. The uniform was wet and everyone was soaked to the bones; which no one knows whether it was caused by the rain or their perspiration.
Ration and water was running dangerously low and that if anymore of them were to collapse due to heat exhaustion, the person's going to die for sure.
At this junction, the commanders; even though tired still braced themselves to pushed the men on, giving them words of encouragement.
"Gentlemen, just up ahead is the enemy's base. We have to be extra careful and tactical enough not to be contacted before we reach the fence line."
As the chief called for a short briefing on the attack plan, the commanders reminded the men to keep a lookout for any irregularities in the surroundings and that should they be contacted, the 2nd-in-charge would take over the command.
"Just up ahead, gentlemen, is our objective. There is no way back now. The breaching teams would do multiple breachings on the fenceline, and once the hole is formed, we will charge in and kill the bastards, clear?"
All of a sudden, a gunshot was heard and Major Nielson's face was splattered with grey matter. All I saw was Captain Jackson falling down to the side and landed faced down into the mud.
"Contacted!" I shouted as I proned down to the ground, alongside all the other commanders.
Our cover's been blown and bullets rained on us. We have to get out of the area fast.
"Section 1....!!! Smoke out....!!!"
Soon as I shouted the command, 5 smoke grenades were thrown out from the vegetation and landed on the open patch between us and the enemy. I thanked god for the excellent training they had back in the camp for throwing grenades.
As the smoke screen is formed, I quickly shouted for all my men to do a left hook to attack from the enemy's right side.
As I got up, I saw that some of our guys were already shot and lying on the ground, shouting for help. But there was no time to waste. The medics will take care of them. Our objective now is to clear the enemy fast...
