Nothing to do in the office, damn sian. Yesterday boss treated us to New Year celebration lunch! haha. at OCBC centre, 33rd storey lei!!! wa lao. can almost see the whole of Singapore! (ok, that's a bit exaggerating) Well, at least the whole of the CBD area. Damn high. should have taken a photo, but didn't dare, cos everyone around and boss is sitting at the same table. Later they say me "Swa Ku". Haha. But how many people can actually come up to here like, even once in a blue moon.

Heard fro
m a colleague that it's quite expensive. $80+++ per person. and we got 11 people on each table, got 2 tables lei!!! wa lao. so damn ex can. haha.

the dishes were like, wow! haha. got shark's fin, but not the normal one. This one is more soup-ish, got herbs inside one. Boss say it's the herbal shark's fin. Shen also said, got Yu Sheng! Whoa! the Yu Sheng was like.... Fantabulous! (fantastic + fabulous) haha. the one we had at SJ is S**T compared to this. hehe.

If one day I become rich, I will bring my family and all the SJ
people to lunch there. haha. damn good sia. Hope I can make it big one day. Anyway, boss say why nv go her house on Sunday to bai nian. I said my dad was sick, he was down with slight fever and a severe cough. so nv go out.

but he's getting better already.

Yesterday when I thought all was well after the lunch and already back in the office, suddenly boss got very mad. Keep repeating the name of a "Smart Alec" (CKW, see full name in the report) at the shipyard who took a picture of the hydraulic system carpark stackers. See Link: "http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/viewPost2092.aspx"

How can u take a picture and send to the press like that?! Why didn't u go thru' us?! We're corporate comms, u know! not like some "chapalang" department. What for set up the department when u can send things to the press urself?! The purpose of having us here is to package the whole thing nicely ma, wa lao.

Some interesting pics and articles I found over the week. Well, how can we miss the weekly scoop of pretty girls. haha.

Nothing to do in the office, so decided to write an Email to re-butt some of the articles in "TODAY". It's the following, posted it here in case it didn't get published. haha.

Why medicine when we’re not sick?

No harm spending the next 5 minutes reading what’s on the mind of a 20 year-old, entering the workforce in three year’s time.

Unlike my friends of the same age group, who goes clubbing and get themselves drunk, I am one who grew up in a middle class family, which cannot even afford for an annual family trip to Disneyland. When I saw the article entitled, “A Budget For A Truly Global City”, I decided to throw in my two cent’s worth.

Increase in GST is to shift from direct taxes to indirect taxes in view of the graying population? Is that supposed to imply that the ageing population able to pay for higher living costs? The point: why transfer the costs onto the individuals when there are larger players of the various industries who can afford to pay higher taxes?

While it might seem like there is not much of a change between decreasing corporate taxes by 2 percentage points and increasing GST by the same percentage, the amount of money that forms the base, I believe, varies tremendously.

Quoting from an article entitled, “Race to Lower Corporate Taxes Hurting Governments' Bottom Lines – Report” published on Oneworld.net, which talks about reduction in corporate taxes hurting the country’s bottom lines in New York, it states, "Governments must stop this tax competition if they are serious about ensuring a sustainable future for their societies," said Guy Ryder, the general secretary of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU), which carried out the study.

I have always been a firm believer that the increase in GST will contribute to the further developments of Singapore and though certainly part of it is to offset the decrease in corporate taxes. It might be a bitter pill for us to swallow, but the only way to fight it off is to adapt to it. Till now, that opinion has not changed one bit. One thing I never understood was, why the bitter pill when we’re not sick in the first place?

We are seeing better transport facilities built; we are seeing more investors coming to Singapore we are seeing Singapore moving forward as a more competitive country. Singaporeans should feel proud of ourselves, because we contributed to all these. Well, of course, not forgetting the investors who made millions and returned part of their earnings to the society as part of their corporate social responsibility to be a caring corporate citizen, who cares about the environment where they operate in. No pun intended, though.

Once again, the update for the week.

Just viewed Ken's blog. Like not much updates lei. feel like reading a summary of the days like that.

Oi KEN! Can't u talk about something specific?! like a BJ game or something with ur friends? haha. have a goal / specific point to talk about. otherwise u'll nv get wat u wan. haha. familiar?

Alright. enough about him.

Right. the main highlight of the week is definitely the Yu Sheng la.

and the story of it starts on the Thursday, 22 feb 2007, 7 pm.

I alighted at Bukit Batok, cos mum say wanna go bank and also I can buy the stuffs at the NTUC there. So i got off the train and guess who I saw.

yes, it's her. The legendary girl whom I've been talking about. (she's Shixian by the way, cos there're too many girls being mentioned here in my blog that I've lost count myself.) Anyway, didn't think she recognises me anymore.

Well, cannot blame la. I didn't say Hi to her. I'm a bit slow in reaction these few days. Saw her face already, but still trying to recover from the shock, but I've already walked so far le. Saw her face, but can't recall for a moment, cos she's wearing specs. *Never turned back to look at her, though.* As the saying goes, good horse dun eat turn head grass.

Nevertheless, that was about all for my encounter with my ex-gf. Things, or people rather, just come and go.

So bought Yu Sheng stuffs, went to bank and deposit some money.

then Friday, more relatives came, along side with my cousin's cute baby girl! haha. She's already going to 2 yrs old le! haha. She gets very excited when she hears the train coming pass, then she would jump la, tug ur pants and want u to carry her and see the MRT. haha. cute right.

so enough of playing, started to prepare the stuffs for Yu Sheng, cos Saturday need to use liao.

First, is the cucumber, shredded.

Second, Radish, shredded.

Third, Carrot, shredded.

Fry sesame seed, peanuts bought.

Mum helped me slice the "abalone" haha. thanks mum!

then reach school le:

squeeze lime, peel grapefruit, wash aluminium tray. buy plum sauce.

put all nicely together and ready for "Lo Hei"!!! haha

All done.

Yeah forget to thank Sir Derrick for sponsoring this Yu Sheng thing. haha.

Well, of course, I must thank myself, for shredding the carrots at midnight lei. So tired le still do. Ya la, so... That's about it.

Something very random. A photo of me and Sotong (I always call her sotong la. Cos she very blur one. haha. cute girl.) taken on board the ship, Umuroa. It's a FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading vessel). hehe.

Like "The Peak 2" right. haha

Once again, Ong saved the day.

I've came to realised how dangerous and fagile life can be on this day, 25 Feb 2007, 9.30am. My mum was hanging out the laundry when she commented on the smoke that was emerging from the unit 2 storeies below.

Quickly, I put on a shirt and went down to check. As I was walking down, the stench of something burning grew stronger. Immediately I knew something was not right. Things are burning and I need to act fast.

As I approached the unit, which is one with a wooden door and a frame of a Quo'ran on the above, I saw more smoke rising from the windows. I knocked on the door and shouted, "Hello?! Anybody at home?! Open the door! Hello! Open the Door!"

The neighbour from the unit beside who heard me came out. "What's wrong?"

I said something's burning and why she didn't smell anything. She said she didn't smell anything lei!! how come?! impossible lor. the smell was so strong and it's almost impossible to miss it.

The the neighbour above the burning unit came down to check. I asked her to call 995 for the help. Meanwhile, the smell of something burning became even stronger. Breathing outside the unit could mean inhaling smoke. I backed off a little while trying to shout if anybody was inside the unit. More and more people started coming down and check whatever's burning.

It could be a lighted cigarette burning on a stack of newspapers.

It could be someone cooking and left the fire on on the stove.

A scene of an explosion came to my mind. And all the people outside might just die. including myself.

So I shouted, "Hello, everyone! Listen to me for a while. It might be something burning on the stove! If that's the case, there might be an explosion!"

Upon hearing this, they disappeared as if they saw a ghost.

The door finally opened after so long and my knuckles were hurting from knocking on the wooden door.

A frightened face opened the door. "I'm sorry, I overcooked the stuffs. Sorry Sorry."

"Have u turned it off? Need any help?" I asked.

"No, it's ok. I've turned it off already. Sorry Sorry"

It's so dangerous to have such neighbours, I thought. And it's more dangerous to have Kaypoh neighbours who doesn't care about anything but just look on. How can u not smell the smoke when u're just next door?! How can u not help and just watch? How can u just watch on as the whole drama unfolds?!

Think about it.

Phew! had a crazy day today. wa lao.

Woke up very early cos I can't sleep much. haha. Enthu for SJ ba. haha. But really, it's really something that I have been looking forward to for the whole week. It's really been something that has been keeping me going. hehe.

The sec threes were rather unsuccessful with their event. cos there're time lags and delays, then the sec ones are not really engaged somemore. especially for those who are not enthu la. so a bit difficult. I tried my best but I'm not good at talking to new people la. cos they're rather scared of me. haha.

Have to admit that the officers and senior NCOs, especially me, were a bit uncooperative la. walk around holding water bombs. hehe. however, waterbombing was fun la. cannot use firehose, so cannot spray more water. hehe. didn't kena bomb. heng ah.. hehe.

but Ai suan stupid la. Ken and I looked at each other in the eye and went to refill the pails. hehe. we were filling it up half way when she came over and stood between us. at a slight jerk of the head, we took the pail out of the basin and poured it on her. whoo hoo!

after that she damn pissed lor. can see. hehe. then she filled it up again. and when she wasn't looking, Ken ran over, took the pail of water and whoo hoo! again splashed. then we all also very bad la. she wet already still took the water bottles and splashed her. hehe.

ok la, after all the splashing, it's lunch. then we carried on with the spring cleaning. so tired after that. spring cleaning from 1pm to 4:30pm. 3 and a half freaking hours lei. haha.

whoa. everybody doing their job lor. Xinyan also very good. she slean all the windows and wiped almost all lor. even when the others have already finished cleaning those. quite good la. everything was finally done at 4.30. though still got some shit to clear, things are going on well.

after that while waiting for Choon Siong and Jing Ying to finish their debrief with the Sec 3s, Choon Kiat, Kenneth and me went to play soccer with the sec 2s. after that they lose la. then they change to play the captain's ball.

whoa. bad choice. haha. cos Xiang Ning very rough lor! haha. the rest also very crazy la. the captain catch the ball already went to slam the ball so it can rebounce high. stupid and childish. but they kept doing it la. hehe. especially Kenneth and PeiLing. hehe. think they're quite suitable for each other. =P

Also, Ken! I didn't "bua" Xiang Ning lor! neither did she bua me. haha. now a bit blue black all over from the whacking and pulling by Xiang Ning la. a bit hyper one. haha. can go all the way to win the game. =D haha. cannot play with xiao mei mei anymore. no energy. damn shack after all the ball games. but I haven't played an enjoyable game with the cadets for so long liao lo. so today on the whole is good. hehe.

not because of the bua-ing. but I finally got something done (spring cleaning) and enjoyed myself (played sports with cadets).

whoo hoo! meanwhile, added a few more xiao mei mei on friendster. here's another quick run thru':

Chen Pei.

Michelle.

I think Michelle's cuter. Well, it's just as personal opinion.

Case of the missing major.

Would the government spend as much effort on locating a commoner? look at the number of people that were mobilised to look for this major and look at what happened to him!

I dun get it. how is getting aids related to you mother's educational level.?

Another girl who just departed from this world.

Her name is Xu Wei Lun. It was so sudden. So sudden.

The article reads like this, "After a severe traffic accident on January 26th,
Taiwanese artist, Beatrice Xu Wei Lun died in the hospital last night. Beatrice's assistant, who survived the accident, was driving the white Mini Cooper on the day of the car crash. Beatrice's head was fractured and she fell into a deep coma. Despite continuous efforts to resuscitate her, Beatrice died of hydrocephalus after 43 hours of emergency treatment.

Last night at 1 AM, Beatrice's body was transported from Central Taiwan back to Taipei. Beatrice's younger brother, cousin, and friends went to the site of the traffic accident to call out to her [wandering] spirit. They used her yellow T-shirt to attract her spirit. Beatrice's brother threw incense paper into the air, while crying out in sorrow, "Sister, please return home!"

It's very sad.
